that is a good question... the situation is different in Europe, farmer types generally stuck with Covid restrictions etc... it was the pastoralist types that went onto the street protesting: You can't make me wear masks/get vaccinated, because.... well, because you can't tell me what to do...
sounds a bit stupid, but farmer types in the US might lean more towards pastoralist types in Europe? Also, the polarisation is greater in the US than in Europe.
Also, my hunch is that extremists on both sides of the spectrum tend to be pastoralist types (you really only need to take a look at what is going on in countries that had high rates of pastorlism)
the truth is, I don't really know the answer... we have had fewer problems ... countries with authoritarian regimes (Hungary, Russia) have had lower vaccination rates, though... it's not like the US president would have been a role model at the time.
That said, so far I haven't been able to explain the basic ideas of evolutionary psychology to a farmer type... every time I tried, they looked at me as if I had gone mad... and here is where "realities of material existence" seems to diverge... the Earth revolving around the sun would not have counted as such a reality for most people some 2,000 years ago... when did it become one? For flat-earthers it obviously hasn't become one until now.
